Clifton College Residential Fashion & Design course
In association with the Bristol-based company, Urban Threads, Clifton College is offering an exciting one week course in Fashion & Design.
On Day One Urban Threads tutors will begin by discussing what participants like to wear, what fabrics they like and what they would like to learn and achieve by the end of the week. They will then show examples of what can be designed and made during the course.
Initially, participants will be given the choice of making something simple and thus pitched at all levels, for example, making bunting. The group will then move onto more advanced techniques throughout the week – working both as an individual and in small groups.
On this fantastic course, you will learn the following skills:
- Pattern making
- Cutting
- Pinning
- Sewing – by hand and machine
- Stencilling
- Painting
Subjects will include:
- Interiors
- Clothes
- Customising t-shirts
- Accessories
At the end of each day, you will come away with a finished article in interiors, accessories and fashion – all with your own label on it! Urban Threads will also give a jewellery making class on one evening.
During the week, there will be a day trip to the famous Costume Museum in Bath, to give you an insight into changing ideas in design and fashion over the years. Throughout the week, the Urban Threads tutors will help you build a portfolio and advise you on how to exhibit your work. On the last day of the course Urban Threads will present you with a certificate of attendance.
You will also have access to the school facilities thoughout the week including swimming pool, tennis courts and cyber café.
