CLIFTON COLLEGE GIRLS´ HOCKEY COURSE FOR 8 - 16 YEAR OLDS
SUNDAY 7TH TO FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST 2011
This five-day course is aimed at ambitious girls of varying standards, ranging from complete beginners, 1st XI school and club players, county players and those who are on the fringe of county selection. Groups will be allocated on the Monday morning, and each player will have the opportunity to move up groups throughout the week in accordance with coach recommendations. Our aim is for each player to leave us on the Friday having improved their hockey and learnt some new skills and techniques.
The course will be led by Louise Catchpole, Head of Hockey at Clifton College. She has coached the school teams to great success over recent years - the school U18s have been County champions for 6 consecutive years and two players have recently represented England at U15 level. Louise has played international hockey, played Premier league for 10 years and is a Level 3 coach. She is also the current coach of the West of England U15 squad.
The course will include:
- Attacking play
- Defensive play
- Advanced stick work
- Speed Agility Quickness (SAQ) techniques
- Match situations
- Lectures on fitness, nutrition and psychology
- Personal player profile on completion of the course
- Specialist Goal-Keeping coaching (10 hours of specialist coaching in small groups, with the remainder of coaching taking place within the main group
Player will work on all aspects of their game and will be introduced to drills and skills used by top-class players, with tactical play developed to National League standard. Coaching will take place at the Clifton College Sports Ground in Abbots Leigh, a regular venue for county tournaments, with all transport being provided by coach from the main Clifton College site each day.
Players will also have the opportunity to relax in the wonderful surroundings of Clifton College and enjoy all the facilities the school has on offer, including a swimming pool, fully-equipped gym facility, and cyber café.
